Inspiration 1-19-23

Who Inspires you?

Hayao Miyazaki

Japanese director

This man has reached the hearts of many young artists who have stumbled upon his great works of Ponyo or Kiki’s Delivery service. His art depicts romance and loveable characters with hints of problems in the world to raise awareness. May it be war, pollution, or the struggles in Japan, he hits the nail in his older movies.

I admire Miyazaki’s style. It’s very simplistic and the animation is smooth. The way he makes his characters show fluid emotion is something I really love because it connects us to the movie.

Kehinde Wiley is his name.  Born on February 28th, 1977 Los Angeles California. Wileys true inspiration comes from just seeing people on the street, the majority of just young Black men. That alone tells you he's an artist who connects with the world, with the desire to represent Black men in a better light, not just with guns, violence, drugs, and other prejudiced stereotypes that superior society and media branded that group. He is a true genius and hard worker who took black representation to a whole other level.

This is representation in true form. Taking ordinary black citizens and putting them onto beautiful murals. I aspire to bring this into film media. Though it might not be grand and amazing as Wiley's beautiful paintings. I want to be able to reach the hearts of black America.

She is a storyboard artist for companies like cartoon network and Dsiney. She is a director and storyboard artist for Big City Greens, a Disney animated show.

I love her cartoony and fluid line work in her pokemon art. It's similar to old cartoons like mickey mouse and popeye. She has a lot of representation in her work as well which I look up to. I relate with her as well being a female black artist.  She gives me confidence making me belive that I too can make it there.
